O fim da OVI

A Marca Ovi chega ao fim!
segue o texto em inglês

In 2007 Nokia launched the brand OVI, which in Finnish language means door, to be the portal of a series of internet services the mobile phone manufacturer wanted to give its users. Among the most popular services, OVI Maps and the OVI Store are still alive, while others as OVI Files and OVI Share have been shut down. Recently OVI Mail migrated to Yahoo! Mail after an agreement with the internet company and now, four years after the beginning, Nokia has decided to shut the door and let the OVI brand die.

Maps and the Store won’t be closed, they will simply be renamed as Nokia Maps and Nokia Store in an operation that will have Nokia stop trying to be an internet company and re-focus on the hardware that made them a market leader.
Nokia’s EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Jerri DeVard explains:
We have made the decision to change our service branding from Ovi to Nokia. By centralizing our services identity under one brand, not two, we will reinforce the powerful master brand of Nokia and unify our brand architecture while continuing to deliver compelling opportunities and experiences for partners and consumers alike“.
New Nokia devices coming from July will ship with the new branding while older devices will be transitioned via software updates with the OVI name disappearing completely by Q4 2012.
